The Milton Housing Authority provides safe, sanitary and affordable housing for low and moderate income persons and families. The Milton Housing Authority owns and operates 39 one-bedroom units of senior/disabled housing located at 65 Miller Avenue. In addition, the Milton Housing Authority owns and operates 12 family apartments, 10 three-bedroom and 2 two-bedroom, at scattered site locations. The Milton Housing Authority also owns and leases out two group homes. We also administer 4 Massachusetts Rental (MRVP) vouchers.

The Milton Housing Authority administers 144 Federal Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers.  Other federal programs include 21 VASH vouchers for veterans and 30 Mainspring vouchers for families whose head of the household is disabled and is in fear of becoming or already is homeless.

Federal Section 8 Housing Voucher Program

The Milton Housing Authority administers the Housing Choice Voucher program in Milton and Randolph. This program is designed to assist families, elderly persons and disabled families by providing rental assistance to tenants of privately owned rental units. Program participants pay a 30% minimum of their adjusted monthly income toward rental and utilities. The Milton Housing Authority then pays a Housing Assistance Payment to the landlord for the difference between tenant’s payment and the HUD determined Fair Market Price. The Milton Housing Authority participates in the Mass NAHRO state wide Section 8 waiting list. A person who applies for Section 8 in Milton also applies at all other participating Massachusetts housing authorities. Once an applicant is awarded a voucher they can begin their housing search.  When they find a suitable unit they need approval from the Milton Housing Authority through an inspection, landlord contract and rent approval.
